I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.

Project Aurora wasn’t just a project for us; it was a feeling.
As we celebrated the 19th Charter Day of the Rotary Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, we wanted to create something meaningful, something that truly connected people. That thought gave life to Project Aurora, an initiative by the Club Service Avenue, a journey built on gratitude, memories, and kindness.
Phase I: Letters of Gratitude
We began on 17th November with Phase 1: Letters of Gratitude. Through a simple Google Form and handwritten notes, heartfelt messages were shared with friends and demonstrators. Our team collected and delivered these letters, and the reactions were unforgettable: smiles, surprise and quiet moments of joy. Many were touched to receive words written just for them, reminding them that they are seen, valued and appreciated for who they are. Sometimes, a few sincere lines were enough to brighten an entire day.

Phase 2: Reminiscence from the Past
Phase 2: Reminiscence from the Past, followed on the 6th and 7th of December. Through video messages shared on our official social media platforms, past presidents and senior Rotaractors reflected on their Rotaract journeys. Their stories carried wisdom, nostalgia and inspiration, gently reminding us of the roots that shaped our club and the values that continue to guide us.

Phase 3: Meals of Merit
The journey concluded on 17th December with Phase 3: Meals of Merit. Meal packets were collected and distributed among the non-academic staff of our university, the quiet pillars who support us every day. This phase was our way of appreciating their continuous service and expressing our gratitude through a simple yet meaningful gesture. The warmth shared in those moments reminded us that recognition, when given with sincerity, truly matters.

A heartfelt thank you to our Project Chairpersons, Directors and every Rotaractor who came together to make Project Aurora truly special.
From handwritten letters to shared memories and warm meals, Project Aurora showed us that kindness doesn’t need grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s found in the smallest acts, and those are the ones that leave the deepest impact.
And just like its name, Project Aurora lit up hearts, one moment at a time.
