Project Satori’s first phase was successfully held on 24 May at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital. During this session, Rotaractors engaged with cancer patients in a creative painting activity that encouraged self-expression, relaxation, and emotional relief. For patients facing the physical and emotional burdens of illness, the session gave them a chance to step away from daily struggles and immerse themselves in the healing power of art.
Project Satori is a heartfelt community service initiative organized by the RACFOSUOC. Built upon the belief that mental well-being, compassion, and human connection are essential aspects of life, the project was designed to create a meaningful and lasting impact both within hospital communities and the wider society.
The initiative consists of two carefully planned phases aimed at promoting emotional healing and mental health awareness. The first phase focused on bringing comfort and creativity to cancer patients through a Sip & Paint session held at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, while the second phase extends its impact through a Mental Health Awareness session.
Following the successful completion of its first phase, Project Satori now moves forward with its Mental Health Awareness Session, intended to educate and engage the broader community. This upcoming phase aims to encourage open discussions surrounding mental health, reduce the stigma associated with psychological struggles, and provide individuals with practical knowledge and tools to care for their own mental well-being and support others around them.
Through compassion, creativity, and awareness, Project Satori continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many. By reaching vulnerable communities with empathy and promoting conversations on mental health, the initiative stands as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can inspire healing and create lasting positive change.
