Future Challenge 2025-26 returns with a renewed vision to empower science undergraduates by bridging the gap between academic learning and the world of research. Organized by the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo,
This flagship Professional Development initiative serves as a platform that inspires students to explore research opportunities, higher education pathways, and emerging scientific fields. While equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their futures.
Building upon its long standing legacy, Future Challenge moves beyond conventional career guidance by creating meaningful exposure to the global research landscape. The initiative is designed to help undergraduates gain a broader understanding of scientific disciplines, postgraduate opportunities, and international research pathways. Through direct interactions with accomplished academics and researchers from around the world.
Reach-Out-Right
The project begins with Reach-Out-Right, an interactive webinar that introduces participants to global research trends, diverse scientific specializations, and practical guidance on securing research and postgraduate opportunities. Through insightful sessions led by distinguished researchers and academics, participants gain firsthand knowledge of research careers, international academic opportunities, and the essential first steps toward building a successful research journey.
“The direction you choose matters more than the speed at which you travel.” More than just a webinar, Future Challenge serves as a collaborative platform where aspiring researchers can connect with experienced scientists, academics, and professionals. Where they can foster knowledge sharing, mentorship, and inspiration. By encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and informed decision-making, the initiative empowers participants to look beyond conventional career paths and embrace the limitless possibilities that research and innovation have to offer.
At its core, Future Challenge is not simply about introducing research opportunities. It is about inspiring ambition, expanding horizons, and nurturing a generation of young scientists, who are prepared to contribute to the future of research, innovation, and global scientific advancement.
