At the University of Colombo, the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Science proudly unveils its signature initiative, “Road to Rotaract”, each year as a new academic chapter begins. This annual initiative is strategically designed to introduce new students, especially first-year undergraduates, to the vibrant Rotaract community within the Faculty of Science. The program features a series of events and activities that not only engage new members but also help them understand the values and mission of Rotaract.
The “Road to Rotaract” initiative is driven by two core objectives: growing and retaining membership while fostering a strong sense of fellowship and celebrating diversity among members. The program places a strong emphasis on building teamwork, trust, and mutual respect, which are essential for the club’s successful operations. Through this initiative, seasoned Rotaractors welcome and mentor new students. They guide new students through the Rotaract journey and highlight the movement’s focus on service, leadership, and personal growth.
This initiative unfolds in two distinct phases, each thoughtfully crafted to ensure a seamless and impactful experience.

Phase 01: Memory Lane
The first phase of the program, titled “Memory Lane,“ served as the official orientation for the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. This phase focused on developing and retaining membership. The event took place on 22nd of July 2024, 6.00 p.m. onwards via Google meet platform. It provided a platform for existing Rotaractors to introduce new undergraduates to the global Rotaract movement, highlighting the club’s service initiatives and development goals. Alongside the informative session, “Memory Lane” included several engaging activities designed to help prospective members connect and build friendships within the Rotaract community. With over 40 members participating, the event was successfully concluded, creating new, positive memories in the club’s journey.
Phase 02: CIAO
CIAO 2024 took place on July 6th, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Independence Square. The event was brimming with energy, featuring a lineup of engaging activities designed to promote fellowship and camaraderie. From lively games like Dance Pass to team-building challenges like Lava River and Balloon Train, the day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of ice-breaking moments.
This dynamic gathering not only set the stage for lasting friendships but also embodied the unity and inclusivity at the heart of the Rotaract spirit.
