“Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.” – Albert Szent Gyorgyi
Safe drinking water, Sanitation, and Hygiene are crucial for human health and quality of life. The reasons behind the tragedy are undoubtedly well known. Why neglect the fact that there exist some things awaiting our attention?
The bitter truth is that we are living in a water desperate world and heading towards a crisis each day. Safe water and sanitation are routinely spelled words, yet need immediate human intervention. Conspicuously, the situation of poorer countries is even more desperate.
What can humans do? Let’s leave the question mark there.
The monitoring part is obviously in the hands of relevant authorities. Nevertheless, can we not make a contribution on our own towards the betterment of mankind?
A point to think!
Who should be responsible if household waste gets added to natural waters? Even if we leave major issues to authorities, are we still free from guilt? The answer is obvious. NO!
It is NO as long as we have our fellow humans without access to safe water. NO, until 800 children die each year from diarrheal diseases linked with poor hygiene and water sanitation. There’s a role to be fulfilled. We are the links of the same chain, interconnected through bonds that should be reinforced with humanity as the world yearns for it!
