Disease Prevention and Treatment is an area of focus that appears pretty self-explanatory. The work is cut out for us: prevent diseases, and if they evade our efforts and somehow manage to exist, treat them…but how, exactly?
The greatest medicine of all is to teach people how not to need it, goes the age-old adage. Time and time again we have witnessed the power of education in making impactful change. Increased access to knowledge leads to increased quality of life, and Health is an aspect that is of especial relevance in this regard today. Widespread awareness about potential diseases, preventive measures, and available treatments are vital for health promotion. Armed with information, we can better face the threats to our personal and public health. Community Participation has been receiving increasing attention in public health, and its importance cannot be overstated at a time like this.
By raising awareness, we are well on our way to empowering our communities to prevent, treat, and cure; and what is the world if not one big community?
Health care is vital to all of us some of the time, but public health is vital to all of us all of the time.
