The sun rises peeking through the mountains, stretching out its fiery bright light over the dew
dampened earth. A lonely white lotus blooms in its wake in a muddy pond. A songbird comes
out of its nest not so pretty to look at, yet it sings in the sweetest voice a melodious tune that
pierces your heart. A soft flowing breeze carries the song along with a gush of freshness from
the dewy morning. A river flows fast and fresh, making small waterfalls and deep pools on its
way to the ocean.
This is the world that we have the privilege of waking up to, one that we almost always manage
to be ignorant about. A world where nature gives freely to those in need. A world that tries to
teach us important lessons every day without giving up. The rising sun doesn’t rise from
between two mountain peaks, it’s just an illusion. Similarly, we too just accept several absurd
divisions that separate humans from one another. Differences that make some think they are
better or more deserving than others. The divergences made due to the color of skin, the
language we speak, religion we follow, a difference of opinion, interest, occupation and so
much more. So many tiny details that prevent us from enjoying the beauty of this Earth in
togetherness.
The flowing river runs swiftly to reach its destination, however, it still stops on its way to make
ponds where life can thrive. Similarly, however busy our days may be, however important our
goals may be, let’s stop to appreciate and help those around us. It could make a significant
change in someone else’s life. Likewise, the river in its hurry may break a new root of a nearby
tree, still, that won’t stop the tree from sprinkling flowers onto the river. An act of kindness
shouldn’t expect payback and it’s important that we learn not to spread hate.
A lone white lotus brings beauty to a reeking muddy pond. A single man’s change of thought or
act of kindness can make a huge difference in the world. Just the way we enjoy the soulful
tunes of the birds without caring about their appearance, let’s enjoy the unique and wonderful
talents of others without criticizing their external appearances. So let’s all become the little
droplets of change that become the ocean, salty as it may be, it will only come back fresh as
rain. There is no race, religion, or language in blood and tears. There’s no way to block the wind
with a barrier. There’s only the promise of a tomorrow, as there is no darkness in the sky that
can’t be filled back with light. Let the dawning earth dawn with peace.
