“…So I’ll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mom
When I fell down you’d be there holding me up…”
Sit down, get your mobile and earphones… Start listening to “Supermarket Flowers” by Ed Sheeran and imagine your mom, while reading this. I guarantee at least one tear.
The reason we are on this earth, alive and well, breathing, enjoying and experiencing every single day with no burden is thanks to one very strong woman whose love cannot be explained.
From the moment she knew she was going to be blessed with motherhood, her entire life was destined to be sacrificed thereon forth, for the life she was to bring into this world.
She spends 9 months in so much discomfort; with morning sickness, not being able to eat the food she likes, not being able to sleep the way she wants, not being able to dress the way she wants. In the end, she goes through the unimaginable pain of giving birth but you don’t see her complain a single bit. You see the smile in her eyes, holding her baby, crying with happiness and we get to see what real love is. No one and I mean NO ONE will ever love you like your mother.
As we grow up, we see our mothers giving us everything we ask for. She doesn’t let us know she’s struggling with life, balancing it between her family and her work. She doesn’t let us know how tiring each and every day is for her.
She’s the first to wake up and the last to go to sleep. She doesn’t have time for herself; to watch TV, to go out with her friends, to have a makeover, to feel beautiful…
Whenever she buys food, she buys for us, whenever she buys clothes, she buys for us, every single rupee she earns, she spends on us, her happiness is our happiness, her smile is our smile.
So, every time you get annoyed or angry at your mom think of how she sacrificed her entire life for you. Hold back! Never raise your voice, never argue, never hurt her, never make her cry… She doesn’t deserve any of it.
Go to your mom, give her a hug, and tell her “I love you”. She’ll shrug it off, asking what’s wrong with us, but she would be thinking about that the entire day. A simple gesture is enough to make her feel loved, than any gift ever would.
Motherhood should not be celebrated on just one day every year.
Treat every day like it’s Mother’s Day!
