
The 15th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo was successfully held on the 28th of August 2017 from 6.30 p.m. onward at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium, University of Colombo. The ceremony marked the installation of President Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe and his Board of Directors for the year 2017-18.
The Chief Guest and the dignitaries were warmly welcomed, and proceedings began with the lightning of the oil lamp. The Chief Guest of the event was Rtn. Samitha Senevirathne, President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Down town. DRR Rtr. PP. Anuradha Senanayake and DRCC Rtn. PP. Bobby Srinivas also graced the occasion.

The ceremony was called to order and was followed by the Rotaract Invocation, Flag Salutation, Four-way test and the Rotaract Song. The gathering was formally welcomed by Rtr. Thanuja Jayawardena, which was followed by the Secretary’s report for the year 2016-17, presented by Rtr. Jayani Gurusinghe, recalling the remarkable memories of the year gone by.
Next the Outgoing President, Rtr. Yasas Diyanananda addressed the gathering. He was grateful for the members for being with him and appreciated the members who worked hard to achieve the goals that were set during the year. Rtr. Yasas Diyanananda then officially handed over the duties and responsibilities of the club by collaring Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe as its 15th President.

Rtr. Kasun Abeyrathne, friend and batch mate of Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe, introduced the incoming president, which was followed by a small presentation. Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe then addressed the gathering, thanking all the individuals that supported him throughout his journey. It was followed by the introduction of the new Board of Directors for the year 2017-18.

Next on was the address of DRR Rtr. PP Anuradha Senanayaka, where she congratulated the new President and the Board of directors for the current year. Then the Chief Guest for the evening, Rtn. Samitha Senevirathne, President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Downtown was introduced and was invited to address the gathering. He congratulated the club and did not forget to emphasize on the importance of such organizations, to improve and develop the skills of undergraduates.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the dignitaries followed up by the felicitations. Members of Rotaract clubs and Interact clubs in attending congratulated the Outgoing President Rtr. Yasas Diyanananda and his Board of Directors on their exceptional year and wished the Incoming President Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe and his Board of Directors for a better year ahead.
Incoming Secretary Rtr. Kithmee de Silva ended all formalities by delivering the Vote of Thanks. The audience and the dignitaries then rose for the National Anthem. Rtr. Sahan Wijesinghe, newly collared President for the year 2017-18 terminated the 15th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. The ceremony was successfully concluded.
