Waste water
Waste water is any water that has been Spent or used water with dissolved or suspended solids, discharged from homes, commercial establishments, farms, and industries. This year’s campaign;” why waste water”, is about reducing and reusing waste water.
What can I do to reduce waste water?
Taking Simple steps will make a big difference. If you are not sure take a look at the following statistics.
- Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth – this can save 6 liters of water per minute.
- Fix a dripping tap. A dripping tap can waste 15 liters of water a day, or 5,500 liters of water a year.
- Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hosepipe. A hosepipe uses 1,000 liters of water an hour. Mulching your plants (with bark chippings, heavy compost or straw) and watering in the early morning and late afternoon will reduce evaporation and also save water.
- Collect used water from your kitchen sink or bath and use it to water your plants.
Why save water?
- Water saves life.
- Water is scarce
- Water costs money
- It preserves the environment
It’s easy and effortless. So Do save water.Do it for the sake of future generation. Do it for yourself.
