It was the most waited music festival of the faculty of science, of University of Colombo “Naada Nu’16”. As it was organized by the faculty Rotaract club I thought of having some chat with the President; of the club Bhasura Perera and the chief organizers, Chankami Perera and Thilina Chathuranga of the event to know how everything went.
- Bhasura, this was one of the huge event done by your club. How did you managed to do all of this? Obviously yes. Naada Nu was one of the dream event which we were planning and there had to be so much of coordination and team work. But with my team nothing is impossible. My board members and second year rotaractors were always behind the success of this and Chief organizers did their work best with the help of others. So it was easier than I thought. I should always remind of the music society of our faculty. They had been practising since about 3 months for this event. Even the exams are near they were balancing everything and they showed their colours. Huge crowd who came on that day witnessed their sacrifice as well as their talent.
- Let me turn to Chief organizers. What were the challenges you faced when organizing this big event? Well in terms of support from colleagues and music crew, we had no problem because everyone was with us. We had to face little difficulty in finding sponsorships. But all those were covered from our tickets because this was an evening full of music. Tickets were sold more than we expected.
- Bhasura, what was the main purpose of this event? Well actually we are from faculty of science. But no one knows the aesthetic talents of the students here. Our main intention was to put those talents out. I’m pretty sure everyone was surprised seeing our talented people. Also we gave a chance for a singer with disability who sings in train, to come to our stage and sing some songs. It was very much emotional because it’s a chance he would never get in his life. Cheer from the crowd made him very happy but unfortunately he is not able to see any of it.That was the most important item in our show. This was a fund raising project for our club and we expect to donate half of the profit for flood affected people in our country who are struggling to get back in to their normal life.
- Chankami and Thilina , how was the successfulness? It was more than we expected. Project was profitable as well. But more than that we gave people a relaxing time and some time to enjoy. Hearing all the compliments proved it was a huge success.
- As the president how do you feel Bhasura? What do you have to say? I am very proud of my team, each and every rotaractor. With then any impossible thing is possible. Naada Nu was initiated last year. We were able to improve it this time. We also was able to get make one of the biggest artist to perform in our stage.I would express my gratitude to Mihindu ayya who is a past graduate of our faculty for coming and performing to give us a big musical experience.I should also thank last year president Rtr Nadeesha Ketakumbura and all board members who gave us the guidance. And I hope our fellow rotaractors will make more improvements and make this open for much bigger crowd over the country. Because talents of our colleges are worth to be witnessed by whole Sri Lanka, and the World.
