The Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo is one of the pioneering institute-based clubs in the Rotaract District 3220 – Sri Lanka and Maldives. Having chartered in the year 2006, our club has been actively participating in the events of the Rotaract District 3220 and has exponentially grown in terms of membership. The club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colombo Down Town.
Our member base is formed out of undergraduates of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, and because of this background our members are from different communities around the country and because of the diverse academic background they share expertise of different disciplines. Within the faculty our club serves as a platform for these diverse individuals to unite and serve the community while developing themselves, professionally.
Our projects include personality development programs specially focusing on bringing down the language barrier which holds back a majority of state university undergraduates from great opportunities. We create industrial awareness through professional development workshops and events which are related to Science undergraduates while building relationships with international communities that share our interests. The club is heavily involved in community service projects because we believe that making the world a better place starts with a commitment to service above self. While giving our main focus on empowering the youth through education and literacy, our projects focus on timely issues that should be addressed within our society.
