“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.”
Nelson Mandela
Every person has the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, the right to believe in any religion, the right to work and for education, the right to equality between men and women, and freedom of opinion and expression.
The World Human Rights Day falls on the 10th of December every year to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHD) which was adopted at the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. So, the 75th anniversary of the UDHD will be celebrated on next year’s Human Rights Day. Therefore, due to the golden milestone that is going to be started on this year’s Human Rights Day, a yearlong campaign will be scheduled with the purpose of making civilians aware of the significance of human rights.
The UN helps to organize events to mark Human Rights Day around the world. Many countries hold cultural performances. People attend talks and meetings about human rights. in some countries, Human Rights Day has also served as the occasion for protests and other demonstrations in support of human rights. Some countries even have their own holiday to call attention to Human Rights Day.
Every year this day is celebrated with different and unique themes. “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All” is the theme of the Human Rights Day of 2022. Rene Cassin is known as the father of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Netherlands is considered the country which is best in caring about human rights. Many civil and social-cause organizations active in the human rights field organize events to celebrate the day. As civilians, it is our bounded duty to act according to the law without violating one’s human rights and extend hands to make the world more peaceful.

Hence, this Human Rights Day, let us consider how essential human rights are for each person and let’s use them every day as our compass to seek justice, equality, peace and freedom for all.
