The 28th of August, a graceful Sunday evening, all the Rotaractors of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo dressed impeccably in suits and sarees gathered at the Disaster Management Centre. It was the 20th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science: The day of appointment of the new BOD headed by the incoming President, Rtr. Dihan Lakthila for the year 2022-23.
Undoubtedly the most awaited event for all members of the Rotaract family. The preparations for the ceremony began a couple of weeks ago. We made every effort to make this event memorable after experiencing an online routine for two years in a row. The project organizing committee was appointed and the duties were entrusted to the members of the team. The PR plan was designed by Rtr. Marsha and Rtr. Deshan. The sponsorships were collected by Rtr. Isuru and Rtr. Dinuvi along with the help of the backstage crew Rotaractors, Amandi, Ginuji, and Sachini. Food and decoration were arranged by Rotaractors, Hashini, Amashi, Cheranika, Sithhara and Asanki. Certificates and invitations were designed by the IT team (Rtr. Malin, Rtr. Malinda, and Rtr. Akash). Everything was well planned, and everyone was eagerly waiting for the ‘DAY’!
The traditional oil lamp was lit to signal the start of the ceremony. Following the remarks and videos of the club members, the ceremony featured amusing speeches from the club members as well as heartfelt videos and sweet-sounding performances. Furthermore, our Rotaract hearts were lit up by the inspiring speeches of the guests.
Everything was perfect! Every detail was ideal! Ensuing a roller-coaster of emotions, the new Board of Directors for the year 2022-23, was then unveiled. The symphony ended on a high note, bringing back a brand-new tune to sing for all the Rotaractors.
The greatest benefit of the ceremony was that we made new bonds, renewed the old ones, and collected long-lasting memories. We enjoyed every little moment and cherished it together.
Just as the District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Rtr. PP Ahamed Hussain said that day, “I tell, every Rotaractor to have faith in their values, themselves, and their fellow Rotaractors because they can shine in any difficult situation”, we improved and strengthened our relationships as Rotaractors to attain bigger accomplishments in the coming year.
A special thank you to all members of the organizing committee for their dedication and the project coordinators, Rtr. Hasali, Rtr. Madhura, and Rtr. Timasha for their excellent support and direction. Additionally, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the departing board for their outstanding efforts over the course of the previous year and cordially welcome the incoming board of officials, wishing them a prosperous and fruitful year ahead.
