Ever found yourself struck with brilliance while bathing? An Epiphany in the shower? You’re not alone. You’re just one in a million who has experienced what’s popularly referred to as a “Shower thought”.
Thoughts that seem mundane and plane in reality dig a little deeper into the retrospect of humanity. Some of which may have you questioning the deeper meaning of the mundane.
Opening windows to the creative minds of the blooming editors of RACFOSUOC, the project Epiphany was brought forth by the Editorial Team with the hope of adding colour, smiles and fascination in the hearts of all readers.
The fantabulous journey of peeping into each other’s shower thoughts; some fantasies, some realistic, kick-started after a short zoom gathering. The articles were planned to go on the blog on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with the intention of allowing the enthusiastic readers to read leisurely. “Epiphany” – A seek in the sea of your thoughts came to light with an eye-catching post designed by our very own talented team members which stole all hearts at first glance itself.
Week one of Epiphany unfolded with Rtr. Vihangi Thissera whose prepossessing lines proved to every heart that little things are not always so little when it comes to teeny-weeny imaginary worlds of our own. The baton was next handed over to Rtr. Thinuri Indrapala to say it out loud, how would it be when the world becomes a book-centred world. Would it not be a sight to behold and to wait for? From the world of books, the next stop of ours was in the world of emotions as Rtr. Isuri Senavirathne gave life to the wonder of emotional expressions through her words. Taking us on a journey like never before, next in the week was Rtr. Dulari Udeshika portraying a beautiful imaginary scenery in our hearts through her poem Lost in the Moon.
Taking the readers of Epiphany a little afar from reality along their own haunted memory lanes, the second week began with Rtr. Nethmini Samadhi and her poem Memories. As we stroll along, next was Rtr. Thisari Jayasumana who reminded us that “it is just a matter of taking the first step on your journey” and provided a newer wave of thinking on solo traveling. Having influenced through her words, Beyond the Horizon of Rtr. Sanudi Upeja Withanachchi took us further away to witness the world we seek. You better think twice the next time you leave your fate in a shooting star.
Shooting stars never get your wish, Until you take the first step toward it. Over there awaiting your own world, To embrace you pricelessly, So make your way to conquer it now.
How common and how diverse the shower thoughts of different people can be? We were reminded of this question by Rtr. Imandi Abeysekera whose beautiful shower thought was so skillfully put into words in her work, How would it be when I become old? Leaving her rhetorical question to the readers, next was Rtr. Ravisha Gamage whose words were so tempting to keep the head up in a frequently rotating cogwheel of influences from the external world.
The third week of the flourishing attempts of our team members began with Rtr. Kavindana Nirmani who took all tired hearts Under the France sky. Having had a mind trip, we next time travelled to witness the wonders of the world of Science with Rtr. Thusali Kodikara. Summoning us back to earth, the third for the week was Rtr. Chamathi Sakya who gave life to the most adorable ripples and tides persuading us to listen to If the Sea Could Talk. Ever imagined what if the sun retires one day? Providing the answers to this question, next was Rtr. Sewmini Bhagya who reminded us to be thankful to our great star on her ending note. Filling up the hearts with words, Rtr. Devanga de Silva stitched her work Sparkling Crystals that accompany the Moon so beautifully leaving us to gaze upon the starry skies.
In the ultimate phase of a four weeks journey, the final week started with Rtr. Amashi Uthpala providing an insightful reflection on possible impossibilities. The second halt was in the work of Rtr. Sasanika Jayarathna whose words were tempting for everyone to contribute to creating a greener world. Giving a whole different window of thoughts to memories, the next was Rtr. Harith Kulathunga through his prose. Adding up to a new shower of thoughts, next in the journey was Rtr. Dilakshan Vijenthirakumar with his soul-stirring poesy அதட்டல் மொழி through which he beautifully portrayed the unbreakable bond between a mother and her son. The long long journey finally came to the beautiful oases we all were dreaming of, with Rtr. Raveen Randika who so meticulously included different points of view on taking and keeping photos for life in a single piece of work.
Thus, we reached the end of the first creative blog series of the year, Epiphany, a peep into the “aha” moments of our lives, the break-in to the brain’s creative madness.
Carving out space in recognition of the talented members of the Editorial team for their effort and time taken in giving life to a series of great compositions.
On an ending note, let your mind wander beyond the norms, making more connections between the bits of information you already know. As for the shower? Actually, it’s just one sort of an epiphany incubator where the water elevates your mood, focusing your attention inwards. A place where you tend to cut out the outside world letting the ideas bubble up into awareness. So, the next time you’re stuck on a problem, try taking a break and letting your mind wander in the sea of your thoughts. Or just take a shower. You never know. An Epiphany might be waiting for you.
