A glance at the life beyond the 360 view
A reminder to the blinded souls
To rethink on things worth working for
That’s what Rotaract is all about
“I am a Rotaractor”, is something you’ll hear in every nook and corner of your university. The pride you feel is immense. Every time you say it you feel an amazing sensation. This might be the same for anyone with firsthand experience. Yet have you ever wondered about “What is Rotaract and what we get to do in Rotaract?”. If no, then you haven’t even reached the surface of this magnificent paradise of experience and memories.
“Rotaract itself is the dream that we have yet to live, experience, and cherish for a lifetime.”
The PR initiative Inspo7- A spin in the Rotary Wheel, initiated by the Editor’s team of RACFOSUOC was the platform to unite everyone through Rotaract for a better world.
The best steps in the Rotaract journey commence from the roots of Rotaract famously known as the heart of Rotaract, the Rotary Focus Areas. The 7 major aspects around which your Rotaract adventure will circle off.
Starting from the roots of civilization, our Environment, the one-way ticket that’ll guarantee our survival. Supporting the Environment was always prioritized for nature is amazingly unpredictable. Here, the plight of nature visualized by Rtr. Sumudu Thennakon, proves that Rtr. Dimuthu Chathuranga’s question “ How long will humans exist?” is something everyone should focus on, not just Rotaract. Adding to that, Rtr Jayani Jayamanna explicitly states the significance of securing mother earth with the existence of valuable green solutions to Man-Made problems.
Going further, Environment alone doesn’t guarantee one’s survival, Peace itself is a dire need that’s lacking in our system. Rtr. Jithaka Alexander, Rtr. Hirusha Munasinghe and Rtr. Amrah Izadeen together relate how power replaced love, and greed replaced harmony while exploring the flaws leading towards such conflicts in society.
Amidst all conflicts, Education is the one-way ticket linking you and your aspirations. Yet have you ever wondered about the illiterate? Here, Rtr. Ama Upeka along with Rtr. Harith Ayodya and Rtr Sudasi Siriwardena explore the heartbreaking reality of the Illiterate. One uncontrollable daily improving cycle of illiteracy fueled by economic disparities, gender discrimination, and many more.
Moving on, Disease Treatment and Prevention expands on health care which is vital to all. Here, Rtr. Thiruni Withana, Rtr. Izad Ijaz and Rtr. Ramona Perera visualize pain and suffering alongside discussing the loopholes existing in society and how they can be evaded for a gleeful future in terms of the health sector.
Diving deep, our next stop was Water Sanitation and Hygiene. Water being the universal benefactor, is the magic that adds life to everything around keeping them afloat. Here, Rtr. Ruwangi Amarasooriya, Rtr. Chalani Wijamunige and Rtr. Cabilan Ganeshamoorthy throw light upon the unseen deterioration of waterways. The scarcity of water followed by a yet-to-solve dilemma of the thirst struck souls.
As we circled through the rotary wheel, our next stop was Community Economic Development, the ultimate solution for the betterment of your community. Here, Rtr. Sayagi Asogan, Rtr. Nipuni Kadupitiya along with Rtr. Dahami Gunathilake bring our focus on to the various strategies followed for generating and sustaining wealth in the community.
Started off from love for mother earth and finally, we made one last stop focusing on the purest, blessed, lovable relationship of a lifetime: Mother-Child. Under Maternity and Child Health, Rtr. Kasuni Dissanayake, Rtr. Sachini Ranasinghe and Rtr. Udari De Silva portrayed the undeniable beauty of motherhood alongside discussing the key factors that need to be addressed to ensure the health and safety of both the mother and the child.
After one month’s exciting voyage around the Rotary focus areas, Inspo7- A spin in the Rotary Wheel finally ended with numerous messages to the society. Things we missed, things we could resolve together as a team, things we could fix with Rotaract.
Being the light to the surrounding darkness, our ultimate hope is to uplift the society in the aforementioned aspects for the Better World of our dreams, together with Rotaract.
