Tell Me, a mental health awareness workshop, organized by the Rotaract clubs of Colombo West, Colombo East and University of Colombo, faculty of Science together with the Ministry of Mental Health, was held on the 17th of March 2018 at the Ministry of Health’s auditorium with the participation of nearly 100 youngsters.
The day’s proceedings commenced with the welcome address given Special Projects Director of the Rotaract District 3220, Rtr. PP Sasmini Bandara.
The key speakers for the event were Dr. Chithramalee De Silva, Director of mental health, Dr. Jayamal De Silva, senior lecturer in psychiatry and consultant psychiatrist at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Dr. Diyanath Samarasinghe, associate professor of psychiatry in the University of Colombo and an honorary consultant psychiatrist at the national hospital.
The participants were made aware of the key areas of discussion; Mental Health awareness and being happy. It was followed by an interactive group discussion where every participant was given a chance to speak out their thoughts about the areas discussed earlier.
